“More than 100 years ago, before Rachael Carson, Ding Darling or Teddy Roosevelt, Major John Lacey of Oskaloosa built the foundation for both the conservation movement in the US and the National Parks System. This is a great time to celebrate the spirit of all the distinguished Iowans who were national leaders in resource protection and the State Parks movement”

Joe Crookham,
CEO, MUSCO Sports Lighting
Iowans own a strong history within the conservation and preservation movements. Beginning in 1895 through the next few decades, hundreds of Iowans labored tirelessly to build Iowa’s world class parks and preserves.
These places of beauty became ideal locations for celebrations of family, community and lasting friendships.
